Tarlesha Gales



Tarlesha M. Gales is the current President for MSCA. She has approximately 16 years of professional compensation experience in lead positions as Senior Compensation Analyst for the City of Memphis, Lead Compensation Specialist and Compensation Advisor for Shelby County Government, and Sr. Compensation Advisor for Shelby County Schools.


She attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English (minor: Law and Humanities) from Xavier University of Louisiana, a Master of Science degree in Public Administration (Electives: Health care Management) from Southern University A&M - Baton Rouge and is currently working towards a doctorate in Health Administration from University of Phoenix.

Additional attributes include holding memberships with the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated.


President Emeritus

William Byrd, IMPA-SCP



William Byrd, is the 2018 Mid-South Compensation Association President Emeritus and served in the past as the President, Vice President, Elect and Vice President of Professional Development.  He has eleven (11) years of compensation experience range from salary administration, job analysis, performance management, and information systems.


William is a Compensation Manager at City of Memphis has previous compensation experience working at Regional One formally known as The Regional Medical Center of Memphis.  He has his Master’s in Business Administration in Human Resources and a Bachelor of Business Administration in General Business.  William is very active in church and his community where he has served in many roles in leadership and project development.


VP of Business Affairs

Pat Welsh



Pat Welsh is a Consultant for Frye/Joure and Associates. This is her fifth year on the Board. Pat has 10 years compensation experience focused on compensation administration, incentives bonuses and implementing job evaluation systems. She is a former Manager in Compensation at Holiday Corp. and a former Manager in Benefits at the Carpenters Union #345 Benefit Trust Funds. She has also worked in other areas of HR- Benefits, EEO/AA, Staffing, Training, Outplacement and as a Generalist.


Pat is an active volunteer at the Memphis Human Resources Career Transition Group Leader and is founder of the PHR/SPHR Certification Study Groups.


VP of History

Brenda Ford



Brenda Ford was appointed to the Mid-South Compensation Association (MSCA) Board of Directors as Vice President of History (Historian), a newly-created position. This is Ms. Ford’s first term on the MSCA Board of Directors.


Brenda Ford has 26 years of broad human resources and finance experience in a variety of industries including corporate, nonprofit, government, and education. Ms. Ford is currently serving as director of human resources at Memphis Scholars, a charter management organization, authorized under the state-run Achievement School District (ASD). Ms. Ford is an active licensed independent career agent with United Healthcare Medicare and Retirement.


Brenda Ford obtained an Associate of Science degree in General Studies from Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Studies, in addition to a certificate in Human Resource Management from University of Maryland University College (UMUC) in Rockville, Maryland. Ms. Ford earned a Master of Science degree in Leadership from Belhaven University in Memphis, Tennessee.


Brenda Ford is a Senior Certified Professional (SCP) with the Society of Human Resources (SHRM), Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI), and International Public Management Association (IPMA).

Brenda Ford enjoys travel, music, reading, and spending time with her family. 

VP of Administration

Nichole Love


Nichole N. Love is a Human Resources (HR) Professional with over 15 years of experience. Her career has been providing HR solutions for private and public sector employers by helping them build their HR infrastructure. Nichole also enjoys consulting with early stage ventures and non-profit organizations. For over ten years, Nichole served as Director of Human Resources for Agape Child & Family Services.  Nichole currently serves as the Human Resources Generalist for Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority.

Nichole holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from University of Memphis where she is now pursing her Master's in Business Administration.  She is currently studying for several different certifications: American Association of Airport Executives Certified Member (AAAE CM), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), and Society for Human Resources Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). Nichole is an active member of many prominent HR organizations including the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) both on the national and local level and The National Association of African American’s in Human Resources (NAAAHR). Nichole also serves on the board of Mid-South Compensation Association (MSCA) as Vice President of Administration.

Nichole enjoys spending time with her family, reading and listening to music. She is married and has one child, Briana.

VP Communications & Web Development

Patrice Robinson


Patrice Robinson is a Senior Compensation Analyst for FedEx Freight. Patrice previously worked for Shelby County Government as a Compensation Advisor. She attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and a Master of Science degree in  Business Administration in Human Resources. 


Patrice's compensation experience range from salary administration, pay incentive, job classification, job analysis and compensation systems. She also has human resources experience in employee relations, benefit administration, training/development and staffing. She is honored to be a board member of MSCA.  



VP of Finance

Chastity Johnson




Chastity Johnson is a Compensation Coordinator for the City of Memphis. Before her move back home to Memphis two years ago, Chastity worked in Nashville for the TN Department of Human Resources. She has a Bachelor’s in Human Resource Management and approximately 11 years of human resources experience, ranging from performance evaluation to employee relations and compensation. She obtained an Associate’s degree in Accounting and has always had an affinity for banking and finance related matters. Chastity loves to watch and cheer on both the Memphis college and professional basketball teams. She is honored to serve as an MSCA board member.

Tracy Smith


Tracey M. Smith is a Senior Functional Analyst for Memphis Light, Gas and Water.  She has 11 years of compensation experience.  She currently holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Detroit College of Business (Davenport University).  Before living here in Memphis, she was a Programmer Analyst for the City of Flint.  This is her second year being a MSCA Board Member.

Braxston Richmond




Braxston Richmond is currently a Senior Compensation Analyst at FedEx. Braxston previously worked in Compensation at ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This is his fourth year severing as a board member. Braxston also previously served as a member of the local SHRM chapter and University of Memphis MILE program. Braxston is a born Memphian and also a Memphis State graduate. Aside from working, Braxston supports several fundraising organizations and initiatives with the city, which include supporting St. Jude, Braxston has participated in several St. Jude Memphis Marathons and activities for the past five years.

VP of Network Events

Joyett King-Wright



Joyett Wright is the 2018 Vice President of Network Events. She is presently a Senior Compensation Analyst for the City of Memphis. This is her first year serving as a Board Member. Prior to the City of Memphis, she worked as a Business Manager with Shelby County Schools. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. She enjoys planning and decorating events, community service, working within her church and spending time with family. She is excited to be a Board Member with the Mid South Compensation Association.                        .

VP of the Mentor/Mentee Program

Krubah Sisuse



Krubah Sisuse is the President and Founder of Kruvivi Consulting. She is the 2018 Mid-South Compensation Association Vice President of the Mentor/Mentee Program.  She has over thirteen (13) years in classification and compensation experience which includes job analysis, salary administration, compensation systems and process re-engineering. She is a graduate from the University of Memphis and received her Master’s Degree in Public Health and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management. She is a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and Global Remuneration Professional (GRP). She also has backgrounds in capacity building, management, health and wellness
